This was life-changing! A few years ago, I learned that eating raw veggies year round is the worst thing you could do for your health! Ok, ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a little. I'm sure I could think of a few other things that are worse for your health than eating salads year round. But, it was surprising when I first learned that, according to ayurveda, it's harder to digest raw veggies than cooked. Summertime is the exception to this rule. You see, according to ayurveda, your self-care and digestion isn't the same year-round. It's important to tune in and adjust your routines based on the season. And, if you're going to eat salads, summer is the best time. In fact, it's one of the things I look forward to every summer (in addition to sunny days on the beach, bike rides, and outdoor concerts!). I made the change a few years ago, and have noticed a huge difference in my digestion and how my body feels. (It was 80 degrees here last week, which is why summer's on my mind...)
