Thank you to everyone who joined us for the soft launch of our virtual yoga classes these past two weeks! It has been such a pleasure and honor to be able to serve you in this way. I am so excited to announce that we'll be moving into our official launch next week! To celebrate this launch, I'll be offering bonus videos and blogs throughout the week, so please stay tuned.
Today, I want to share with you the story of how I came up with the idea for these classes and also my intention behind this new program. The idea stemmed from an experience I had a year ago. At that time, I was suffering from significant pain in my knee and shoulder. The pain was so bad that I couldn't even pick up a cup of water without feeling significant pain in my shoulder. I couldn't even sit in a comfortable cross-legged position without feeling pain in my knee. I felt so limited by the discomfort in my body. I was confused as to where this discomfort even came from! I have been such an active person my entire life – a runner, a yogini, so how did this happen? I still don't know the answer to that question. But, at that time, I knew that I had to take time to fully recover and heal my body. I went to physical therapy for many months and this really helped to increase my range of motion. After completing physical therapy, I knew that there was still quite a bit of recovery that my body needed. I also really wanted to get back into my yoga routine, which I was unable to practice during the peak of the pain. I decided to pursue online yoga classes. I wanted to be guided through my practice as a student, not a teacher, and within the comfort of my own home. The chronic pain drained a lot of my energy and so the idea of commuting to a yoga studio after work to take a fast-paced vinyasa class did not appeal to me, especially since my body was not ready to take on such a challenging class. I discovered pre-recorded online classes and I was surprised to find that I really liked it! I loved the convenience of practicing in my own home while also being guided through my practice. This experience got me thinking - what if there was a way that I could offer live yoga classes so that you can practice at home under the guidance of a teacher in real-time? I knew that I wasn't alone in my experience of seeking greater convenience in my self-care. When I think of my lifestyle and the lifestyles of many of my friends who are in the professional work force and also have young children at home, I knew that the idea of taking time out for our own self-care can sometimes feel like such a challenge! So, what if there was a way to bring the self-care to you? A way to make self-care easier and more convenient, instead of just something else on your to-do list? Now, a year later, I am thrilled to make that vision a reality with the launch our live, virtual yoga classes! My intentions for these classes are: 1. To offer classes that are convenient and accessible I want to help make self-care easier for you. You can practice from literally anywhere – your living room, hotel room, or even outdoors! 2. To offer classes that are live and in real-time To give you an interactive and engaging class experience. I lead all of the classes live and in real time. Through Zoom’s chat function, you have the ability to type in questions during the class. I will do my best to answer your questions during class and also stay on the call after class to answer any remaining questions. 3. To build community We start each class with introductions and sharing one thing that we are grateful for that day. This gives us a chance to get to know each other and to start our practice together with greater awareness and appreciation. We will also be creating a private Facebook group for our class participants. In this way, we can continue to share our journeys with each other and build our sangha (community). To reserve your spot in class, visit our booking page. I look forward to practicing with you soon!
