What if instead of New Year's Resolutions, you picked a word? A single word that'll be your anchor for the year. No matter what happens, you bring it back to your word.
I know this might sound totally different than what you're used to, but hear me out. In 2020, my word was "pleasure." Pleasure is 1 of the 4 aims of life, according to the Vedic philosophy of yoga. I wanted to find more ways to bring pleasure into my life. Obviously, I had no idea what 2020 had in store! But, in a way, everything shutting down, all the pandemic precautions, led to a more simpler way of life. I spent more time in Nature. I tried new recipes. I had to search for creative ways to connect with my loved ones. So, although 2020 was hard. The fact that I had the word "pleasure" as my focus, led me to find creative ways to enjoy the simple moments in life even more. The point of a word of the year isn't that it'll make all your dreams come true or your problems disappear. That would be great, and I bet you see a lot of coaches and self-help guru's proclaiming this constantly! But, that's not my approach. There's no single thing that's going to make your life perfect. But do you know what there is? There's mindset shifts that you can make on a daily basis to come into a resourceful state. A state of resiliency and radiance. A state where your actions are in greater alignment with your values. From this space, you'll find a sense of fulfillment no matter the external circumstances.
