Coming Home in the New Year

It's a new year, full of hope and possibility.  We recently honored the winter solstice, which brings with it the lengthening of daylight and sunshine.  As we embark on this new year, may we allow this light to shine onto all aspects of our lives, brightening the paths that we walk along.  

We cannot be certain what this new year will bring - what challenges, joys, obstacles, celebrations; but we can strive to remain fully present and aware to graciously accept all of the gifts that the Universe has in store for us this year.  

As I reflect upon years past and contemplate the upcoming year, I find my mind settling into "home."  Life has a way of taking us on so many unexpected journeys, and we often find ourselves out of the comfort zones that we call home.  The recent holidays gave us a chance to return "home."  We gathered with family and friends.  We shared in the community of food, laughter, and delights.  Yet, there are other times in our lives when we feel distant from all of these loving comforts that we call home.  No matter where we are or what we are experiencing, it is our responsibility to create our own home, comforts, and rituals.  

So, wherever life's journey may take you this year, allow your inner light to guide you and know that your "home" is always within you.  If ever you feel lost, simply return to the present moment.  Allow yourself to rest in the endless love within your heart, realizing that it is from this space that your home emanates.  
May you allow your light to shine so brightly in this new year that wherever you go, you are right at home.
