Oil gets a bad rep…
Yeah, of course, you don’t want to overdo the processed oils and fried foods. But, there’s such a thing as “good oils” that can actually make you feel more balanced, nurtured, loved, and even help you sleep better!
One of the things I’ve learned over my past 11 years of studying and practicing Ayurveda is that you need to adjust your self-care routines for the season. Life, just the calendar year, has different seasons. What looks like “balance” for you in 1 season can be completely different in another season.
Your body is always sending you signals. It’s your job to tune into those signals, get curious about what they’re telling you, and make adjustments so that you can live in alignment and harmony with life itself. When you do this, you find greater ease, joy, peace, and happiness.
I’m not saying any of this is easy. Actually, it’s a lifelong practice and journey. I always tell my clients “become a student of your life.”
So what’s all this got to do with oil?
It’s the Fall season. You may have noticed the leaves are changing color, there’s a crisp dry quality in the air, and a breeze rustling through the leaves outside. These are qualities of Vata, or the Air/Ether elements in Ayurveda - dry, light, mobile, cool.
These qualities are reflected in your body too. That can show up as dry skin, constipation, insomnia, and a general sense of restlessness or even anxiety.
Oil up your life!!
Physically, mentally, and emotionally, you want to add oily, smooth, unctuous things into your life. What does that look like?
Here are some examples:
Want more tips specific to you and the season of life you’re going through right now?
Let’s hop on an Illumination Call and shed light on what your body’s trying to tell you in this current season and what you can do about it. This is a completely free, no-pitch call to give you the clarity and results you’re after…
Have you ever had a song stuck in your head and you don’t even know why or where it came from?!?!
This happened to me recently...Forever Young. You know that 80’s song…
I want to be forever young…
*Here's the music video if you want some ridiculousness in your life today :-) It's very 80's!
Over and over and over again…
I had no idea why this song popped in my head, and for the life of me I couldn’t get it to stop playing on repeat.
And then, I looked over on my dresser and read the words on the bath balm that was gifted to me recently and saw the words “Forever Young” written in pink across the top of the box and I just started laughing!
This is how powerful words are! The words you use, and even the words that you see in your environment. Your subconscious is always picking up information around you, drawing connections, and trying to make sense of it all whether you’re aware of it or not.
So, why not be intentional about the words you feed your mind?
One of my favorite practices for this is AFFIRMATIONS. When you affirm something, you’re powerfully telling your subconscious mind that this is important and true.
The thing is how often are you unknowingly affirming negative self-beliefs? Things like “I’m not good enough...I could never have what she has...I don’t have what it takes…”
You have the power to shift those negative self-beliefs into positive ones, and when you do, you’ll discover confidence and self-worth like you never thought was possible.
I’m leading a free training tomorrow where I’ll talk about this in greater depth and share other tips for building greater confidence and self-worth so that you can feel fulfilled in your career and relationships.
The training is at 2pm EST tomorrow, September 29th. Will I see you there?
“I realized while going through these lessons that I’m coming back to myself. A lot of these things, I feel like I’ve had them inside of myself but somehow veered away from them and got lost, not taking the time to do these things for myself that I used to do. I realized that I can take that time to do these things for me because who’s going to take care of me if I don’t take care of me?”
This is what Astride, one of my clients in Reclaim Your Radiance, said to me recently.
You see, this is a journey of coming back to yourself…
Of remembering who you are at the core and creating a life that reflects that, instead of getting lost in all the to-do’s that leave you feeling depleted, overwhelmed, and burned out.
So, how do you do it? How do you come back to yourself?
Keep reading, or Watch the 3-Minute Video Below….
I’ve created a process that walks you through 3-phases….I call it the C.A.R method, so you’re going to take this CAR to go from where you are now to where you want to be, to that ideal life where you’re sipping on a cup of tea while watching the sunrise over the ocean without a care in the world…
So, C is clarity. First, you have to clear the chaos. You have to clear out all the cobwebs and all the noise, and get back to what’s most important to you. You do this through a visioning process and creating daily routines.
Then, A is for acceptance. You need to make sense of the now. Accepting all the parts of yourself and your life situations that’ve led you to where you are now, and knowing that you can choose differently moving forward. You do this through tuning into your body’s signals. Getting out of your head and into your body.
Finally, after all that inner work, you come to R for rebuilding. Creating a plan of action. Looking at your career, relationships, and your life through this new lens of clarity and acceptance to rebuild these parts of your life in a way that reflects your priorities and who you are at the core.
This is the process I lead all my clients through, whether in my 1-1 program or the Reclaim Your Radiance Group program.
So, if you’re ready to experience this yourself, I invite you to take the very first step, which is scheduling an Illumination Call.
This is a free call where you’ll shine light on what’s going on in your life right now, identify your obstacles, and come away with clear actionable next steps to move forward.
This is NOT a pitch or a sales call. This call is all about you and getting you results.
If you want to learn more about the ways I can continue to support you, just bring it up during the call and we’ll set up a separate time to chat about it.
So, I’m including the link below to schedule your Illumination Call. Remember, all change starts with taking that very first step.
I can’t wait to chat with you soon!
Take That First Small Step
So this happened…
A year ago, I took a chance and had no idea where it would lead me…
All I knew was that I wanted to contribute to creating more opportunities for women to stand tall in their inner strength, truth, and power.
It’s a mission I was already creating through my Radiant Living Programs. So, when I discovered Sseko Designs, a socially-conscious fashion brand that creates university scholarships and full-time jobs for women around the world, it felt only natural that I join this community of Dreamers & Doers…
…Here I am, a year later, and I attended my first ever Sseko Summit last weekend where I was inspired by my colleagues and the impact & mission that we’ve collectively committed to…and as though my heart & spirit weren’t already overflowing enough, I was recognized with the Golden Award for Collective Ambition.
“Collection Ambitiion - She is a full moon that beckons a rising tide. She knows that as she rises, her success will raise her sisters up. She has the drive to make the world brighter for herself, her team, and her sisters around the world. She moves energetically and unapologetically towards her aspirations.”
Do The Thing That Scares You
I was so nervous…
You may not be able to tell from the picture below, but I was so nervous…
You see, I’ve gone “Live” and spoken to groups hundreds of times…from teaching yoga at large Expos to leading wellness retreats and group programs, to doing IG and FB lives, but you know what still happens every single time?….
Butterflies in my stomach and heart racing just before I go “Live…”
I don’t think it ever goes away, you just get used to feeling the fear and doing it anyways…
This past weekend, I was particularly nervous because I was invited to speak on a topic that is SO IMPORTANT and not something I’ve ever spoken about before…
And, even though I was nervous as heck, I knew that this topic is so important that I had to do it. I had to do the thing that feels uncomfortable, vulnerable, and hard, because it’s the right thing…
And, you know what?
It led to other women opening up and sharing their hearts with me…things that they’ve never spoken about either, and that brings tears to my eyes…the power of stepping into your story and vulnerability invites others to do the same. And, this connection is the most powerful thing in the world. This is the power to heal, and learn, and grow…together…
Celebrate & Serve
This week is my 1-year Sseko-versary and what better way to celebrate than with a Fundraiser Event, doubling the impact for women around the world.
Here’s the thing…
When you shop Sseko, you’re already contributing to university scholarships and full-time jobs for women around the world. It’s built into our business model. This year alone, my team has already fully-funded 10 full-time jobs and 5 university scholarships. We’re shooting for 20 jobs and 10 scholarships by the end of the year, and we definitely can’t do this alone. It’s a collective effort and every small step counts.
We know that when a young woman is educated, she’s more likely to become a leader in her community and family, creating a ripple effect for generations to come. I’ve seen the value of education in my own life in countless ways. I was raised with the idea that “knowledge is something no one can take from you.” It is and will always be an asset that leads to opportunities, safety, and freedoms that may not otherwise be possible.
That’s why, in addition to being a Sseko Fellow, I’m passionate about contributing to organizations that support the advancement of education and opportunities for women. One of those organizations is HER Future Coalition that provides education and vocational training to young girls and women who are survivors or at risk for human sex trafficking. Young women like Subhomita, the sweet 9-year-old girl who I personally sponsor in Kolkata, India.
This week, I’m inviting you to be part of this impact and help me celebrate my 1-year Sseko-versary through shopping Sseko.
This week only (thru Jul 23rd), when you shop Sseko, a portion of the proceeds will also go towards HER Future Coalition.
One more thing...
I’ll be going Live in my Facebook Group at 7pm EST tonight to share more about the impact and products. You can join the group and tune in HERE.
Your body is always sending you signals.
Are you listening?
It starts subtle. And if you don't tune in, the signals get louder...
Ayurveda says that all imbalance starts in your digestive tract. This is the first place you'll get your body's signals. That is, if you're aware and paying attention to it.
It'll show up as indigestion, heartburn, or feeling bloated.
When you don't listen and make changes at that level, the "imbalance" travels to other parts of your body, mind, and emotions. It shows up as chronic pain, insomnia, anxiety and panic attacks.
And the thing is, it's not only what you eat that's causing this "imbalance" in your digestion. It's everything - your life experiences, emotions, and processing of those experiences. You literally have to "digest" all of those things.
And, when you don't, your body lets you know.
In part 2 of my podcast with Melissa Barry, brand strategist and host of Conscious Matters, we talk all about digestion and tuning into your body's signals.
In case you missed Part 1, I'm including the links to both below...
