It’s interesting that I primarily work with women navigating life transitions, and here I am, going through another life transition myself. As I’ve been navigating my own transitions (and, yes, leaning in heavily on all the same tools & practices that I teach in my programs), I thought of this really great story about letting go. It goes like this…
There was a monkey and he stuck his hand in a jar to grab a piece of fruit. So, he stuck his hand in the jar and wrapped his hand around the piece of fruit, but when he went to pull it out of the jar he found that his hand was stuck! He couldn’t pull the piece of fruit out of the jar. He tried and tried, but he was stuck. It wasn’t until he opened his fist and let go of the piece of fruit, that he was able to get unstuck and pull his hand out of the jar. The moral of the story: Sometimes the only way to get unstuck is to let go. Letting go can feel SO hard! Especially when you don’t know what’s next. It can bring up feelings of uncertainty, anxiety, fear, shame, and even failure. But, it isn’t until you let go that you create space for new to enter into your life. As I was thinking more about this story, I wondered if, after the monkey let go and pulled his hand out of the jar, realized that he was sitting right next to a fruit tree the entire time! What if that piece of fruit you’re pining over isn’t really meant for you anyways? And, what if that’s because you’re sitting right next to a fruit tree of opportunity, but you couldn’t see it when you were focused on the jar? Sometimes letting go is the exact thing you need to do in order to broaden your perspective and find creative solutions to what you’re going through. Where is it that you feel “stuck” right now? Is there something you need to let go of in order to move forward? Comment below or use the Contact Form to share your response with me. I read and reply to every message myself. P.S. If you’re looking for more support right now, then schedule a complimentary Illumination Call where we’ll shed light on what you’re going through, get support and clearly defined action steps to move forward. I work with people going through life transitions, helping them navigate the uncertain waters, rediscover themselves, and rebuild their lives from a place of greater alignment and intention.
Of course you don’t have to be going through a major life transition to benefit from my programs, but I’ve found that it’s often these transition points that are the greatest catalyst for diving into your personal development journey. You see, when things are going well, you rarely question the things in your life and your priorities. But, when life knocks you to your knees, it’s in those moments that you dive deep into your inner world, searching and seeking answers and clarity. That’s where the transformation happens. I, myself, have gone through a number of life transitions over the years (way more than I’d like to admit!), and the blessing in each of those challenges is that I learned more about myself. I developed greater self-compassion, understanding of who I am, and letting go of the expectations of how my life “should” look like. None of it was easy. Far from it. But, I believe that life’s challenges are always happening FOR us - to teach us something, to force us to grow outside of our comfort zone, and to lean into who we’re meant to become. Can you think of a life transition you’ve gone through, or are going through right now? Where can you find the blessing in this challenge? What have you learned about yourself along the way?
