This was life-changing! A few years ago, I learned that eating raw veggies year round is the worst thing you could do for your health! Ok, ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a little. I'm sure I could think of a few other things that are worse for your health than eating salads year round. But, it was surprising when I first learned that, according to ayurveda, it's harder to digest raw veggies than cooked. Summertime is the exception to this rule. You see, according to ayurveda, your self-care and digestion isn't the same year-round. It's important to tune in and adjust your routines based on the season. And, if you're going to eat salads, summer is the best time. In fact, it's one of the things I look forward to every summer (in addition to sunny days on the beach, bike rides, and outdoor concerts!). I made the change a few years ago, and have noticed a huge difference in my digestion and how my body feels. (It was 80 degrees here last week, which is why summer's on my mind...) Watch this 3-minute video to learn more about Ayurveda's seasonal recommendations. Digestion is such an important part of your well-being that we spend an entire week on it in my 6-week group program. Speaking of, this program is starting up again in just a few weeks.

April sucked.
There I said it. Even me, a self-care, resiliency, wellness guide and physician who's always looking on the bright side has hard days. In this case, a hard month. Without getting into all the details, it was a month of tremendous loss and grieving. Of feeling all those super hard, big emotions that make you think about existential things like the meaning of life. I talk about living radiantly all the time, right? That's my whole thing. And now, I'm going to let you in on a secret.... I didn't learn how to live radiantly because my life was perfect. It was through these tough moments that brought tears to my eyes, tested my strength, and forced me to dig deep. Those are the moments that taught me how to live radiantly. So, if you're going through a tough time right now, I want you to know that:
Literally, the word emotion comes from the Latin "emovere," which means to move out. Don't hold your feelings in. Let them flow through you in whatever way feels right. Here are some examples of how you can do that:
I have space set aside on my calendar just for conversations like this. First let me know what's going on and what areas you're looking for support by filling out this form. After that, you'll get a link to schedule a chat. If you'd rather have the support of a group, then my Reclaim Your Radiance program is for you. We'll meet weekly and you'll learn time-tested tools to get you through this tough time and back to feeling like yourself again. |
